Wendy Wentworth DVM

Dr. Wentworth is a native of New England having spent time growing up in Connecticut and on a farm in central Maine.  From her very early years she spent time caring for animals, as her family had several animals of their own and were involved in local animal rescue work.

Her love of animals led her initially to be involved in animal shelter work as a career, eventually becoming a manager of a humane society in central Maine.  Working with many local veterinarians, she developed a passion for veterinary medicine.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science/ Animal Health Technology from Murray State University, Murray KY.  She went on to receive her DVM from Iowa State University.  She went on to an additional year of intensive training in small animal surgery and medicine at Oklahoma State University.  She came back to New England in 2000, initially practicing on the coast of Maine before coming to Hampton Veterinary Hospital in 2005.

Dr. Wentworth’s professional interests include internal medicine, oncology, and behavioral medicine.  She still has a strong passion for animal rescue work and is involved in many local rescues including SAFER, Cats First, and Savin’ Them all Canine Rescue.  She also enjoys working with retired racing greyhounds.

At home, along with her husband, she enjoys the company of her two Border Collie Mixes, Cocomo and Cabana (rescued from a shelter in Virginia), and her three rescued cats, Tango, Jack Frost, and Brutus.
