Surgical Services and Hospitalization

Our facility provides high quality surgical services. Surgical services include but are not limited to:
- Canine/feline spay-neuter
- Hernia repair
- Dental cleaning/ tooth extractions
- Abdominal exploratory/abdominal surgery
- Tumor excision/biopsy
- Bone fracture/ligament repair
We strive to make your pet’s surgical experience as safe and non-traumatic as possible. Surgeries are performed in our clean and bright separate surgical suite. All of our surgical patients have pre-anesthetic physicals and pre-anesthetic blood testing performed to make sure organ function is carefully evaluated prior to anesthesia. Appropriate pre-procedure medications are administered. Patients have intravenous catheters placed and receive intravenous fluids and sometimes medications during their procedure. Isoflurane gas anesthesia is used on most patients resulting in a rapid recovery. Patients are kept warm with a circulating water blanket. Vital signs are monitored closely by the attending doctor and trained surgical technician. An EKG measures their heart rate and rhythm, and a pulse oximeter measures their oxygenation.
After their procedure, patients are placed in our well-monitored Recovery/ICU. Post-operative pain management is also administered to the patient to make sure they remain as comfortable as possible. Many animals are able to go home the same day as their surgery, depending upon their procedure. You will meet with a doctor or technician when your pet is discharged and receive detailed discharge instructions, so you can properly care for your pet at home after their surgery. If you are not comfortable with caring for your pet after their procedure, we do offer medical boarding services. In the event your pet needs a specialized surgery performed, we work closely with local specialists in the surgical field, to ensure your pet receives the care they need.
In the unfortunate event your pet becomes sick or injured and requires hospitalization, we offer hospitalization services. Pets are housed in a clean and quiet environment to make sure they are as comfortable as possible. Vital signs are monitored, and treatments are administered by a well-trained staff. You will receive regular updates on your pet’s condition and visitation is encouraged. In the event your animal requires 24- hour care/observation, your pet may be transferred to a local specialty referral hospital we work closely with.
A Word About Pet Insurance
We highly recommend pet insurance. In the event your pet becomes sick or injured, pet insurance can significantly reduce the costs associated with making your pet well. Many plans even help pay for routine preventative care. We have several brochures available for your review, outlining the various plans that are available.
